CMO Asks Public To Dig Deep To Break The Chain of Transmission

Commenting on today's figures CMO Dr Tony Holohan said; “15,000 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 over the last 14 days."

"It is vital for everyone with a recent diagnosis to self-isolate for the full 10 days."

He said isolation was key to protecting house mates, loved ones and the broader community.

Dr Holohan also reminded the public that self isolation requires people to stay at home in one room as much as possible and to avoid other people - including those in your household.

“If you live with someone who has COVID-19 or you have been told that you are a close contact, you must restrict your movements for a full 14 days.

Now is the time to use our reserves of energy and dig deep in our efforts to follow the public health advice," he said.

He appealed to people to play their part in breaking the chain of transmission.
