Jonathan Pryce Announced To Play Prince Philip In The Crown Seasons 5 & 6

Jonathan Pryce to play Prince Philip in The Crown

Netflix have announced The Two Popes actor Jonathan Pryce will play Prince Philip in The Crown seasons five and six.

He'll be taking over from Tobias Menzies and Matt Smith as the Duke of Edinburgh.

Jonathan joins a star studded cast for the show's final seasons.

The incredibly talented Imelda Staunton will take over from Olivia Colman in the role of Queen Elizabeth II.

While Lesley Manville will take over from Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret.

On bagging the role, Jonathan said, 'I am delighted to be working with Netflix again.'

'The positive experience I had making The Two Popes has given me the confidence to tackle the daunting prospect of portraying Prince Philip.'

'To be doing so with Peter Morgan in the company of Imelda and Lesley will be a joy.'

Jonathan has starred in a number of massive productions.

He played Elizabeth Swann's father, Governor Weatherby Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

The actor also played The High Sparrow in Game of Thrones.

Meanwhile, season four of The Crown is due out later this year.
