Covid-19: 20 Additional Deaths And 584 New Cases

The Department of Health has been notified of 20 new deaths relating to Covid-19 in Ireland.

11 of today's reported deaths took place this month, 3 occurred last month while 6 happened in January.

The youngest person was 57 while the eldest was 91 years of age.

The Department have also confirmed 584 new cases of the virus.

Over 70 percent of today's cases were identified in people under the age of 45 years old.

The median age is 34 years old.

Most of today's cases were identified in Dublin, where there are 222 new cases.

Elsewhere, there are 44 new cases in Kildare, 33 in Offaly, 31 in Meath and 29 in Westmeath.

The remaining  225 cases are spread across 19 other counties.

There were no new cases reported in counties Kerry and Leitrim.

Meanwhile, there have been 25 additional hospitalisations in the past twenty-four hours.

In total, there are 317 Covid-19 patients in hospitals - 76 of whom are in intensive care.

As of March 22nd, 186,653  people have received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.
