The new figures have been released by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.

57 per cent of people admitted to ICU with Covid-19 between June and October were unvaccinated.

The numbers from the HPSC show 258 people were admitted to ICU during this time.

It comes as ICUs are under mounting pressure, with 73 Covid-19 patients currently in ICU.

Just 12 ICU beds are available in hospitals across the country as of today.

Tony Fitzpatrick from the INMO says the Government needs to consider the impact on the health service.

That's as NPHET are set to make recommendations about the easing of restrictions on Friday.

They are meeting today and are expected to give advice on the reopening of nightclubs.

Capacity numbers at sporting events is also something up for review.
