Maura Higgins could miss her sister's big day

Love Island's Maura Higgins is reportedly at risk of missing her sister's wedding.

It's alleged the Monster Girl was well aware of the date before entering the villa.

Her sister Louise has been planning the ceremony for over a year now.

A source tells The Sun, 'Louise got engaged in 2016 and the wedding was planned over a year ago.'

'So Maura would have known that when she applied for Love Island.'

The wedding will take place in three weeks time while the show is expected to continue until the first week of August.

Despite the reality star missing her sisters big day, there are no hard feeling between the two.

'Maura and Louise are very close and her sister fully supports her decision to go on Love Island.'

'In fact she's happy for Maura and is delighted she's been given an amazing opportunity to find love and further her career.'

Maura's ex will be at the wedding

The islander was in a long-term relationship with car salesman James Finnegan for nine years.

We assume he must be a close friend of the family considering he's on the guest list for the wedding.

'James will be at that wedding too cause he’s good friends with Louise's fiance. To be fair they were set to be brothers-in-law.'

'It was a tough decision for Maura and no doubt she'll be gutted not to be there.'

'But her family will be rooting for her either way and want her to make it through to the Love Island final.'

Maura & James

The pair first met in school in 2008, when Maura was 17.

They both lived in Balymahon, Longford at the time.

They got engaged in 2013. Maura would have been 23 at the time.

However, after four years engaged and nine years together the couple split in 2017.

The breakup

Speaking to The Sun, a source claimed the breakup was a result of Maura's 'glamours' career.

'She stayed with James as she got bigger and better at modelling and she did try to make it work,' said the insider.

'James was her first love and her anchor for a while but their relationship was bound to suffer as she traveled more and followed her dreams.'

'He didn't want to split and was left drowning his sorrows.'

The source continued, 'It will break his heart seeing her on Love Island, they'd been together since school. But they are good people and will always be on good terms.'

Maura briefly referenced her relationship with James during last night's episode.
