The people behind Framing Britney Spears have said they'd, 'love,' to make a follow-up documentary.

They explained why in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

New York Times Presents executive producer and showrunner Mary Robertson spoke to the publication over the weekend.

She was joined in the interview by NYT senior story editor, Liz Day, and documentary director, Samantha Stark.

When asked about a follow-up, Day said, 'I think we'd love to.'

She explained, 'there was so much we had to leave on the cutting room floor and in our notebooks just for time.'

'And also since the documentary aired, we've gotten a lot of information that we're interested in as well that we're interested in pursuing and reporting out further.'

Day added that the documentary has, 'helped us earn the trust of even more people.'

She explained, 'people have been very distrustful of the press because they've felt burned in the past and I think the documentary's very sensitive treatment and respect of all parties and everyone helped us further.'

Stark comments

Later in the interview, documentary director, Samantha Stark said there's, 'way more to learn about the circumstances of the conservatorship.'

She said, 'Right now, Jamie Spears is the face of this because he's the person that was named in the court filings that were filed by Britney's court-appointed attorney.'

'But it's clear that he's not the only person who was working on this and that he's not the only person that has benefited monetarily from this, so I think it's important to look into everything,' she continued.

'And of course it will be very important to keep following the court hearings as they keep happening.'

The documentary follows the early stages of Britney's career and her rise to fame.

It also documents her ensuing conservatorship battle amid the #FreeBritney movement.

Britney's father, Jamie Spears, has been her conservator for the last 12 years.

This deems him responsible for almost every aspect of her life.

Last summer, Britney requested that her father step away from the situation entirely.

However, according to E!, the judge declined the request and extended the conservatorship until September 2021.

After seeing the documentary, viewers were shocked by its revelations, and took to Twitter to share their disbelief.

Framing Britney Spears is available to watch in Ireland on NOW TV.
