A man has been charged with three counts of attempted murder following a knife attack in Dublin on November 23rd.

Riad Bouchaker, aged 50, of no fixed abode, appeared before Judge Bryan Smyth at Dublin District Court this afternoon.

He was arrested today at Mountjoy Garda Station on eight charges following the incident last month outside Gaelscoil Cholaiste Mhuire on Parnell Square East.

He is accused of the attempted murder of three children, two girls and boy.

A further charge of serious assault causing harm to a creche manager, and three assault causing harm charges to two other children and a male French national were brought forward, as well as a charge for production of a weapon.

When charged with the second attempted murder of a female child Mr. Bouchaker replied ‘I am a sick person’, a response he repeated when presented with the weapon charge.

Through an Arabic interpreter he was remanded in custody to Cloverhill District Court to appear via video link on December 28th.
