The Taoiseach says it is "beggars belief" that people would attack Gardaí with abuse as well as bottles, bricks and fireworks.
Violent clashes broke out in Citywest in Dublin last night after a 26 year old man was charged with the sexual assault of a 10 year old girl.
In the Dáil this afternoon Micheál Martin also expressed concern that innocent people at the CityWest IPAS centre were threatened and frightened.
Five men are due before the courts this afternoon, charged in connection with last night's disorder.
