Kerry's Jessie Buckley Wins Best Actress at the Golden Globes

Jessie Buckley has won a Golden Globe.

The Kerry native won the award in the best actress in a movie drama category for her role in Hamnet, portraying the wife of William Shakespeare.

Her co-star Paul Mescal didn't win in his best supporting actor category, losing out to Stellan Skarsgård.

Hamnet also won best motion picture drama at the ceremony in Los Angeles overnight.

Jessie paid tribute to the extras on set, "I adore you - I would rave in that globe for the rest of my life with you," she said.

Timothee Chalamet won Best Actor for his role in Marty Supreme.

While Adolescence won four awards, including one for 16-year-old Owen Cooper.

"I went to drama classes and I was the only boy there and it was embarrassing but I got through it," Cooper told the crowd, as he recounted his first acting role.

Stars Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty were also recognised for their roles.
