A teenager has been charged with the serious assault of a man in Cork on Wednesday evening.

19-year-old Ricardo Hoey, with an address at Ardcarrig, Carrigaline, was arrested and charged in relation to the incident, which took place in Glenwood Estate on Wednesday just before 6pm.

He appeared before Mallow District Court this morning, where he was remanded on bail.

He is due to appear in court again on January 5th.

A number of bail conditions were outlined to Mr. Hoey, including keeping a curfew at his home.

He is not allowed to apply for a passport or any other travel documents and he must keep a mobile phone on him at all times so he can be contacted by Gardaí.

He also is forbidden from contacting the victim, a 29-year-old man, who remains in hospital in critical condition.
