The Government's launched expressions of interest to build over 3 thousand new student accommodation beds across four campuses.
The applications have been made under a scheme looking to make the building of student accommodation more affordable.
The on-campus projects would be located at Technological University Dublin, Munster Technological University, Atlantic Tech University in Galway and IADT in Dun Laoghaire.
A second application is looking at purpose build student accommodation in Dublin, Cork and Galway.
The Minister for Higher Education James Lawless says he's focused on delivering more student beds.
"We know student accommodation is a challenge for many students, and government is committed to 42,000 new beds over the next 10 year plan, starting today with 3,300 new beds.
"I have identified four sites in the first phase of the student accommodation strategy."
He added: "I've launched an expression of interest this weekend to invite the private sector to come now and work with the colleges in building out that accommodation across the four sites."
