Odeon, Vue, IMC & More Cinema Chains Across Ireland Shut Their Doors

Cinema closures in Ireland

As the coronavirus spreads across Ireland, many cinema chains have had no choice but to close their doors.

Here's a list of all cinema outlets closing across the island:

Odeon

Odeon announced the news of their closure on social media this weekend.

They wrote, 'Following government guidelines ODEON cinemas in the UK and Ireland are closed until further notice.'

The statement went on, 'If you have pre-booked tickets online, these will be refunded automatically.'

'For any specific questions, please contact our Guest Services Centre.'

'We look forward to welcoming you back soon.'

Vue

Vue also announced their closure with an online statement.

They assured, 'We are also doing our part by putting employment policies in place so that our staff are protected and not penalised financially.'

The statement went on, 'Any pre existing bookings will be refunded automatically in the month of the scheduled screening.'

'We want to wish all our employees and customers well during these difficult times.'

Omniplex

Omniplex originally announced that all their cinemas in the republic will close until 29th March.

However, they've since extended the closure to their outlets in Northern Ireland as well.

'We will review our re-opening date in line with Government advice.'

IMC

IMC also announced their closure earlier this week.

They wrote on Instagram, 'We will be closed with effect from Monday, 16 March 2020 until Sunday, 29 March 2020.'

They went on, 'This decision has been taken in the interests of the health and welfare of everyone and will be reviewed regularly in line with further Government directives.'

'We will keep you updated as often and soon as we can.'

Cineworld announced the news of their closure on Twitter yesterday.

'We are closing all cinemas across the UK and Ireland until further notice in light of the current coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and recent government advice.'
