Restrictions on nightclubs were due to be lifted on Friday October 22nd.

The National Public Health Emergency Team is meeting today to discuss the final easing of restrictions.

After the meeting it will give advice to Government on whether nightclubs will be able to reopen this week.

They'll also give a recommendation on capacity numbers at sporting events.

It comes as there's concern from health officials on the recent rise in Covid case numbers and hospitalisations.

482 Covid-19 patients are in hospital this morning, which is an increase of 76 in the past 48 hours.

There are 74 patients in intensive care, up one over the same period.

HSE CEO Paul Reid has called on the public to hit the reset button.

He's urged those who're unvaccinated to "do the right thing" and get a vaccine.
