Gardaí Make Enquiries After Dublin GAA Players Gather For Secret Training

Gardaí are making enquiries after a number of Dublin GAA stars allegedly breached Covid-19 restrictions.

According to a report by the Irish Independent 9 senior players gathered before 7am at Innisfails GAA pitch yesterday.

They were photographed training drills and were overseen by a coach.

Among the attendees were some of Dublin's biggest names, including Brian Fenton, Jonny Cooper and Brian Howard

The session took place around 12 hours after Croke Park warned that any breaches of group training could put the GAA’s plans for a return in serious jeopardy.

The Association says it will take any necessary disciplinary action needed against players who breach Covid-19 restrictions.

It's says it's 'frustrated' and 'extremely disappointed' at the potential breach.

Sports Minister And Former GAA President Express Disappointment

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Sport Jack Chambers says these players should be leading by example.

He described their actions as "not acceptable".

MEP and former GAA President Sean Kelly says clubs across the country will be highly frustrated over this.

"Others will look at this say 'why cant we do the same'?"

He said the situation has created "a very difficult dilemma for the GAA".

Gardaí have confirmed if they identify breaches of regulations a fine may be issued.
