The Department of Health has confirmed 7,836 new cases of Covid-19.
They have been notified of 17 additional death related to the virus.
Of the cases notified today, 3,740 are men while 4,078 are women. Most people -63% - are aged under 45 years of age
The median age is 36 years old.
Leaving Cert students are generally 17-19 years old.
14-day incidence rate for 13-18 year olds is 284, and for 19-24 it’s 893.

Most cases of Covid-19 are in Dublin, where there are 2,263 cases.
Elsewhere, there are 1,373 new cases in Cork, 496 in Louth, 345 in Limerick and 340 in Meath.
The remaining 3,019 cases are spread across all other counties
Meanwhile, there have been 105 additional hospitalisations in the past twenty-four hours.
In total, there are 954 Covid-19 patients in hospitals - 88 of whom are in intensive care.
The 14 Day Incident Rate is estimated to be 819.1 per 100,000 population.
UK Variant Evident In Ireland - CMO
The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said the country is in a "serious phase" of Covid-19.
"There is evident of an increasing presence of the UK variant in Ireland."
Dr Holohan said the mortality rate and ICU admissions are likely to escalate over the coming days and weeks.

He said "it has never been more important" to adhere to public health advice.
