The Vampire Diaries Is Reportedly Leaving Netflix Next Month

It's reported The Vampire Diaries is leaving Netflix next month.

According to Digital Spy, all eight seasons will be removed November 1st, just after Halloween.

The series ran from 2009 to 2017, and has been available to watch on Netflix for a number of years now.

It follows the story of a teenage girl named Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) who just lost her parents in a car crash.

Suddenly, vampire brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore (Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder) arrive in town.

She embarks on a relationship with Stefan, but has no idea he's a vampire.

Their relationship becomes increasingly complicated by the antics of his dangerous older brother Damon.

Damon returns to Mystic Falls to bring back their long lost love Katherine Pierce, who looks exactly like Elena.

Fans react to the news

Following news of the show's departure from Netflix, fans took to Twitter to react.

One wrote, 'Netflix really did look at 2020 and go what could make this worse??'

'and decided the vampire diaries could be removed'

While another tweeted, 'Netflix acts like we don’t all got Halloween movies to watch.'

'Now we’re all gonna have to watch the whole Vampire Diaries series in a month, again.'

And another threatened to unsubscribe from the service.

In some good news, spin-off series The Originals isn't going anywhere for the time being.
