Love Island Is Back, Here’s What You Need To Know

Love Island has proved to be a smash hit in the ratings, with memes consistently going viral online and breakout stars like Maura Higgins taking over the Internet.

Even more amazing the show has reportedly bagged ITV an estimated 14 million in revenue before the new season even airs.

However, the show is never without its controversy and ahead of tonight’s premiere here’s what you need to know.

Laura Whitmore Returns

Bray superstar Laura Whitmore took over the reins from Caroline Flack in January 2020 and returns once again to host the summer series for the first time.

As usual, Voiceover will be provided by Laura’s husband and hilarious fan-favorite Iain Stirling.

Speaking to the Independent ahead of the launch Laura said she’s most excited about the first day of filming.

Why? Because she gets to, “meet all the islanders the way everyone else meets” them.

A New Group Of Islanders

Love Island is set to air tonight with 10 brand-new singletons, with the girls apparently arriving first as they take their pick of the boys, and that’s just the start of the drama.

Of course, we all know being in a couple is the name of the game as you need to be paired up to remain on the show.

Ireland has given its fair share of breakout islanders not least Maura Higgins and Yewande Biala.

But by the looks of things so far there is no confirmed Irish contestant.

However, as we all know there will be a few surprises down the road and we can’t wait to see who turns up.

But what about coronavirus?

Yes, the pandemic may have stopped the summer series of the show last year, but in 2021 everything is back with a bang.

The production is taking extra precautions and most of the crew running the show will be based in the UK.

As well as this, earlier this month the cast arrived on the Balearic island to quarantine, even bagging their own chaperone to ensure social distancing…for now.

When can I watch Love Island?

The show kicks off tonight at 9 pm on Virgin Media One here in Ireland, and on ITV2 in the UK.

It’s expected the show will air every day except Saturdays for the next eight weeks.

We are in for an extra special treat as tonight’s premiere is set to be a little bit longer than usual packing a 95 minutes opener, instead of its usual hour slot.

Meanwhile, earlier today it was announced that SPIN and Anton Danyluk are joining forces for a brand new series called Casa SPIN

The 2019 contestant will join presenters Marty Guilfoyle and Tara Walsh every Friday for the latest villa gossip.
