Hilary Duff will reprise her role as Lizzie McGuire

It's been 15 years since Hilary Duff starred in Disney Channel's Lizzie McGuire so this has been a long time coming.

The former child star took to Instagram to announce the news.

'I am beyond excited to be home again, back with my girl'

Hilary announced the news during a conference for D23.

She explains that her character is no longer in her teens but is now a 30-year-old woman.

Lizzie is living in New York, working her dream job as an apprentice decorator and is also dating the perfect man.

We're not sure whether her original co-stars Jake Thomas, Lalaine Vergara-Paras and Adam Lamberg will join her in the new series.

Lalaine and Adam played her bestfriends Gordo and Miranda.

While Jake played her younger brother Mike.
