Sarsfields Rugby, Limerick's LGBTQIA+ inclusive rugby club and the only inclusive rugby club in the Mid West of Ireland, will host the second Lynch Cup on Saturday 15 August 2026 at Young Munster RFC, Tom Clifford Park, Limerick.
Following the success of the inaugural event, the tournament returns for its second year, bringing together clubs, teams and players from across Ireland and beyond for a day of tag and contact rugby, community and celebration.
The Lynch Cup is held in memory of Sarsfields teammate Sarah Lynch, who passed away suddenly in December 2023. The event celebrates the values that were at the heart of Sarahs life. Inclusion, friendship, and creating a welcoming space for everyone in the sport.
Its inaugural edition in 2025 brought together 325 players: 225 in tag and 100 in contact, across more than 20 teams, plus over 200 family, friends and supporters, making it a day for over 500 people.
It also saw all four LGBTQIA+ inclusive rugby clubs on the island face off for the first time. This year's tournament will also see Sarsfields’ newly formed Women's+ contact team line out for the first time on the day, another first for the club.
The day combines a competitive tag and contact rugby tournament with an evening social event, where players, supporters and the wider rugby community come together to celebrate.
The event will raise vital funds for GOSHH, continuing Sarah’s legacy of inclusion, education, and support for the LGBTQI+ community.
Spectators are free to attend.
