Three weeks of spooky celebrations, family fun, folklore and unforgettable experiences are on the way as Halloween in Limerick 2026 returns with an exciting programme of events across the city and county from the 11th of October - 1st of November 2026. Supported by Fáilte Ireland through its Home of Halloween initiative, this year's festival promises something for everyone.
From ancient Samhain traditions to modern-day thrills, Halloween in Limerick brings together heritage, food, community events and spectacular entertainment throughout October. Festival highlights include the immersive Mystery Samhain Banquet, where guests can step into a world of mystery and otherworldly flavours, and the ever-popular Limerick Harvest Festival, packed with family-friendly food, culture and seasonal experiences. Families can enjoy Trick or Treat in the City, an interactive adventure through Limerick city centre featuring spooky characters, challenges, stories and surprises around every corner. Costumes are encouraged for the Halloween City Centre Fancy Dress 5K, which will bring a colourful parade of witches, ghouls and superheroes through the streets of Limerick. Those looking for more spooky fun can head to Halloween Scarefest, while Oktoberfeis puts an Irish twist on the classic Oktoberfest experience.
Across the county, visitors can discover the legendary Dullahan at the Rathkeale Halloween Festival: Dullahan to Darkness, explore folklore and local heritage during Samhain at the Crossroads in Kilfinane, or experience storytelling and heritage events at Samhain at Lough Gur: Where Myth Meets Mystery. For those who enjoy a darker side to Halloween, Morbid & Sons – Pop-up Funeral Shop offers a hilarious family-friendly street theatre experience, while a range of haunted tours and immersive events from Limerick Civic Trust will reveal some of the city's most fascinating and ghostly stories.
The Home of Halloween initiative, led by Fáilte Ireland, celebrates Ireland's unique connection to Halloween through folklore, culture and authentic visitor experiences. Limerick is one of seven destinations selected for the programme in 2026, helping to showcase the region's rich heritage while creating memorable experiences for visitors and locals alike.
