The director shared a black and white photo of him sitting in a vintage car.

She captioned it, 'Little known fact: most male actors don’t want to play supporting roles in female-led films.'

'The industry has raised them to believe it lessens their power (i.e financial value) to accept these roles, which is one of the reasons it’s so hard to get financing for movies focusing on female stories.'

She continued, 'No joke, it is harrrrrd to find actors who recognize why it might be worth it to allow for a woman to hold the spotlight.'

So when Harry Styles agreed to play the part, they were overjoyed.

'Enter: @harrystyles, our “Jack”,' Olivia wrote.

'Not only did he relish the opportunity to allow for the brilliant @florencepugh to hold center stage as our “Alice”, but he infused every scene with a nuanced sense of humanity.'

'He didn’t have to join our circus, but he jumped on board with humility and grace, and blew us away every day with his talent, warmth, and ability to drive backwards. #dontworrydarling,' Olivia finished.

Romance rumours

Harry and Olivia sparked romance rumours early last month.

It's after they were spotted holding hands at his agent's wedding in California.

A source told E! News at the time that they were very, 'couple-y,' at the wedding, and stayed at the same hotel that night.

'They shared a room and did everything together,' the source spilled.

And it turns out their romance has been blossoming for quite some time, according to a separate E! insider.

This came months after Harry signed on to star in Olivia's movie, Don't Worry, Darling.

Don't Worry, Darling

Olivia and the film's costume designer Arianne Phillips gushed over Harry following the casting announcement.

The director told Vogue, 'She and I did a little victory dance when we heard that we officially had Harry in the film, because we knew that he has a real appreciation for fashion and style.'

'I'm really grateful that he is so enthusiastic about that element of the process - some actors just don't care.'

Shia LaBeouf was originally cast in Harry's role, but he had to step away from the project due to scheduling conflicts.

The Sign of the Times singer joined an all-star cast including Florence Pugh and Chris Pine.

Deadline report the movie is set in, 'an isolated, utopian community in the 1950s California desert.'
