Amy Schumer Responds To Backlash Over Her Treatment Of Kirsten Dunst At Oscars

Oscars host Amy Schumer has come under fire for calling Kirsten Dunst a, "seat filler," during Sunday night's ceremony.

As a result, the comedian released a brief statement on Instagram Stories explaining the situation.

Amy said, 'Hey I appreciate the love for Kirsten Dunst. I love her too!'

'That was a choreographed bit she was in on.'

'Wouldn't disrespect that queen like that,' she concluded.

What happened?

Amy was one of the three hosts at this year's Oscars.

While addressing the star-studded crowd, she decided to explain the concept of, 'seat fillers.'

The comedian got distracted by Jesse Plemons, who was sitting with his wife Kirsten Dunst.

She said, "Oh my God, let me just show you what the seat fillers do!"

Amy pointed at Kirsten and said, "Here's a seat filler," before proceeding to pull her out of her chair.

"Jesse, I loved you in The Power of the Dog," she said as she took a seat next to the actor.

He responded, "You know that was my wife?"

"You're married to that seat filler? Oh, that's weird," she responded.

Backlash

Kirsten's fans weren't one bit impressed by the joke, and took to social media to share their outrage.

One Twitter user posted a screenshot of the Spider-Man actress' filmography, and wrote:

'amy schumer calling kirsten dunst a seat filler when this is her filmography'
