Snapchat To Charge Users for Storing Memories

Snapchat is planning to make users pay to store photos and videos on its platform.

The social media company says since its 'Memories' feature was introduced in 2016, it has stored over one trillion files from around the world.

The feature allowed users to save photos and videos for free until now.

Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok apps on an iPhone in January 2021.

However, users with more than five gigabytes worth of files, will soon be forced to upgrade their storage within the next year.

Storage plans of 100 gigabytes, 250 gigabytes and five terabytes are set to be introduced.

Snapchat says it hopes "the value provided by the Memories service is worth the cost".

The company says it will provide 12 months of temporary storage for those exceeding the limit, and users can download saved content to their device.
