Plans to ban scrambler motorbikes from public places will go before Cabinet tomorrow.

It follows the death of 16-year-old Grace Lynch, who was killed after being hit by a scrambler in Finglas in West Dublin.

Vehicles on public roads must be registered, taxed, insured and driven by licensed drivers - requirements a lot of scramblers do not meet.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin says proposals will be brought to Cabinet aimed at banning the use of scramblers on public roads and in public parks.

He says the Government will also examine new laws regulating the use of e-scooters.

Tánaiste Simon Harris says scramblers are being used to intimidate people.
