Last night, Joe Biden boarded his plane back to the USA after a four-day trip in Ireland.

The 46th American President managed to pack a lot into his short trip.

Even though he was here on political grounds, he also was here to visit his ancestral home and experience Irish culture.

He described it as feeling "like coming home".

Our Political Correspondent Sean Defoe even made a bingo game for his trip:

Of course, last night was arguably the main event as the public gathered in Ballina, Co. Mayo to see President Biden deliver a speech.

In the speech, he reflected on meeting the priest in Knock that performed the last rights on his son Beau Biden, who died in 2015.

He said it seemed "like a sign".

"Hope" was a continuing theme throughout his trip to Ireland, and last night was no different.

"We Irish are the only people who are actually nostalgic about the future".

But Biden also attempted to lift the famous Mayo curse.

He concluded his address with support for the Mayo football team: "Mayo for Sam!"

Cheers erupted from the crowd as young generations' eyes were fixed and gazing at the leader of the free world.

Locals in Mayo will no doubt, be remembering this event for years to come.
