Maybe it's time to start saving for September, because the contribution fee is rising again.
It will be €1,000 more expensive than last year.
Since September 2022, the €3,000 contribution fee had been cut to €2,000.
Since the new Government was formed, it had promised to continue to cut fees, set out in the Programme For Government.
Minister James Lawless confirmed the move yesterday on RTÉ Radio 1.
He said all indications were that there wouldn't be a cost of living package this year, and if that didn't happen, he couldn't cut fees in his department.
The Labour Party has called it "a major setback for college affordability".
It wants the Minister to urgently reconsider the move.
