A gun has been seized and a man has been arrested after searches in Saggart.
The operation took place yesterday afternoon, when the Dublin Crime Response Team found the gun and ammunition.
Gardaí have sent the pistol for ballistics examinations at the Technical Bureau.
A man in his 70s was arrested at the scene and later released, a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
