A passenger limit of 32 million people at Dublin Airport looks on course to be breached.

In the first nine months of the year, over 25 million travelled through the airport.

In a statement, Dublin Airport's operators DAA said it would be "prudent" in its approach when managing passenger capacity and in the years ahead will grow the airport to meet future demand.

The limit was put in place by An Bord Pleanála, when it approved planning for the second terminal.

Travel journalist Eoghan Corry says this 32 million passenger number is important:

"We almost hit it pre-pandemic, 2019," he said.

Eoghan says it wasn't a factor for a few years, because of the lockdowns.

However he says Dublin Airport's working on how it will deal with a cap of 32 million.
