The world's largest aircraft is landing in Shannon Airport with PPE for medical staff.

The Antonov An-225 Mriya jet will be delivering a cargo of Personal Protective Equipment for Health Service Executives.

The flight is scheduled to arrive this afternoon.

Director of Operations at Shannon Airport, Niall Moloney, said the aircraft is “the size of Croke Park”.

Shannon Airport is the only Irish airport that can accommodate the giant plane.

The jet was due to arrive at Shannon airport yesterday but technical problems caused a delay.
