Jamie Carragher's special message for Ringsend residents

Liverpool legend and Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher recorded a special message for an 11-year-old Liverpool super fan this week.

The message was also directed at the residents of Canon Mooney Gardens in Ringsend.

It follows their inspiring weekly activities to lift spirits in the flat complex.

11-year-old Seán McCabe has been taking part in all the weekly activities amid the pandemic.

He's regularly heard belting out his favourite Liverpool anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone at the events.

And despite a rare condition making it difficult for Seán to walk, he raised over €1000 for charity by walking 50 laps of the flat complex.

NOW TV have made sure that Seán's hard work alongside his local community has not gone unnoticed.

They organised for Carragher to record a special message, which was broadcast ahead of the residents' weekly movie night.

The streaming service also hooked each resident up with a NOW TV Sky Sports Pass.

Jamie's message

Addressing the Liverpool super fan, Jamie said, "Hi Seán, a little birdie tells me you’re a HUGE Liverpool fan."

"So I just want to send you a message (and Seán Senior, your dad!) and everyone at Canon Mooney Gardens, for the community spirit you’re showing and the inspiration you’re showing to everyone around that area."

"Now I know you are both huge Liverpool fans and I’m delighted that NOW TV have given you a Pass so that you can watch all the games and you’re gonna watch Liverpool win the title."

He went on, "And I’m telling you Seán, it’s a formality!"

"Because you and every Liverpool supporter have waited that long and what you’ve given (as I said) in Canon Mooney Gardens, is absolutely superb!"

"So they’re gonna pay you back and you’re gonna see Liverpool win the title on Sky Sports."

'...totally surreal'

Local resident Michael Larkin organised the broadcast with NOW TV.

In a statement, he said, 'There are loads of Liverpool fans in Canon Mooney Gardens and young Seán McCabe is probably the biggest one of them all, so to get that message from Carragher was just unbelievable, totally surreal.'

'We do our best here to keep up the spirits in the community and we’re thrilled that we’ll all be able to watch the Liverpool Everton game together in the flats on Sunday.'

Premier League action returns with a double-header on 17th June and it's available to stream on NOW TV.
