New Sky Broadband research reveals half of adults in Ireland rely on broadband for work.

56% of Limerick people believe that an improved broadband connection would help them keep in touch with friends.

Over a third (34%) of Limerick adults think it’s possible to get a better broadband connection than their current one.

Reliability and speed are the most important elements of broadband for people in Limerick.

One-third of (33%) adults in Limerick claim that broadband difficulties leaves them always or quite often frustrated.

With more people than ever working from home over the last year, new Sky Broadband research reveals over half of adults in Limerick rely on broadband for work and nearly half of people surveyed said that broadband was critical to daily life.

More time at home has meant more reliance on a good broadband connection and more opportunities to discover how a poor broadband connection can impact our everyday lives.

As part of the National Broadband Plan, approximately 544,000 premises will be passed under the NBI programme, meaning more people than ever can experience the benefits of a good broadband connection.

Nearly one-third of people in Limerick have missed a live sports match and a quarter of those surveyed have missed a call with friends or family due to a poor broadband connection.

Missing these important occasions is not only an inconvenience to people’s lives but trying to get connected unsuccessfully is wasted time that could be used in a more positive way for people’s lives.

Sky’s research shows that half of the people in Limerick would spend any extra time they have with family and 44% of people would use any extra time for exercise.

Getting connected to Sky Broadband Ultrafast means lightning fast speeds so more time spent with friends and family and less time trying to connect with a slow and unreliable internet connection.

Sky, in partnership with National Broadband Ireland, is bringing ultrafast broadband with speeds of up to 1GB to homes across Ireland, with Limerick among one of the first counties to benefit from the rollout.

Sky is encouraging those who are looking for high-speed fibre broadband as it is being rolled out, to register their interest on their website.

JD Buckley, CEO Sky Ireland, said:

“As people have spent an unprecedented amount of time at home over the last year, the importance of connectivity has become more apparent than ever.

Our research has shown just how crucial broadband is to people and that a better broadband connection would allow people to improve their connections with friends and family as well as improving their productivity.

With 50% of people surveyed experiencing an unreliable broadband connection, we are delighted to offer Sky Broadband Ultrafast with speeds up to 1Gb to almost 1 million homes.

As more NBI towns are passed we look forward to connecting even more of Ireland.”

Sky Broadband Ultrafast with lightning fast speeds and its best ever Wi-Fi is available from just €35 per month.

As the demand for Wi-Fi increases in homes across Ireland, Sky Broadband Ultrafast will connect families to more of what they love, by enabling them to simultaneously download, stream and share content without interruption.

Sky Broadband Ultrafast will bring customers future-proofed technology that is more than ten times faster than standard broadband, meaning it’s perfect for very high bandwidth users that want instant, multi-device access for everything from box set binging to working from home.
