A man has been charged in relation to the acid attack in Garryowen, Co. Limerick.

The man, in his 30's, allegedly threw a corrosive substance over a young man's face at a house party on the 13th of June.

The victim presented himself to University Hospital Limerick after sustaining serious facial injuries.

However, he was transferred to Cork University Hospital for specialist treatment.

Limerick TD Willie O'Dea has said,

"The level of violence and level of aggression between human beings is on the increase all the time but that was a particularly horrendous attack."

The accused is due to appear before Limerick City District Court this morning.
