An Outdoor Screening Event On The Grounds Of MIC

World premiere of a new film version directed by Edwina Casey presented as an outdoor screening at locations across Ireland.

A Scottish lighthouse goes dark.

A visiting supply ship finds the building in order.

The keepers have vanished without trace.

Three singers in multiple roles explore the psychological state of the fractious men, relive an official investigation and project a supernatural explanation.

The composer, who based the structure of the opera on the Tower of the Tarot, leaves no simple answers.

Based on an actual event in December 1900.

The Lighthouse Opera outdoor screening will take place on the MIC campus.

Seating and headsets will be supplied and the capacity is limited to 50.

Pre booking necessary and all performances are weather permitting.

Gillian Fenton Marketing Development Manager at The Lime Tree Theatre said :

"This July Irish National Opera are touring to a few locations nationally that can accommodate an outdoor screening set up.

Thankfully Lime Tree Theatre can do just that on the grounds of MIC.

On Monday, 12th July at a much later time of 10.45pm audiences will enjoy this outdoor cinema experience on the green in front of Summerville House.

The pandemic has really pushed the creative world and reimagined how audiences can engage with the arts.

The reason for the late start is to ensure dusk will settle so the screening will be clear for viewers.

We are asking audiences to come around 10pm as Masterchef will have an outdoor bar set up with barista coffee and a selection of lovely wines.

Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets and anything that will make them comfy for the evening."

Tickets are €5 and are available to book here.
