Bord Bia Launch Greening Initiative To Enhance Urban Environments Across Ireland.

More Green Cities aims to increase use of green landscaping in building projects and promote locally-grown planting stock.

Bord Bia, in partnership with the Irish Farmers Association on behalf of the Irish Hardy Nursery Stock Association will launch the Irish element of More Green Cities for Europe on Wednesday, 16th June 2020 at an online event at 2.30pm.

More Green Cities for Europe is an initiative which aims to increase the proportion of green landscaping in building projects in Ireland while encouraging the use of locally-grown planting stock.

Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity, Pippa Hackett will formally launch the initiative at the online event with Tara McCarthy, CEO of Bord Bia, Val Farrell, Chair of the Irish Hardy Nursery Stock Association (IHNSA), Dr Pat Daly, Chief Executive of Limerick City and County Council, and Kevin Halpenny, President of the Irish Landscape Institute.

Overseen by the European Commission, More Green Cities for Europe is co-ordinated in Ireland by Bord Bia, in conjunction with the Irish Famers Association on behalf of the Irish Hardy Nursery Stock Association.

The project will run until the end of 2023, and Ireland joins 12 other European countries, including Germany, France, Sweden and Italy.

The campaign is aimed at national and local decision-makers, planners, developers, architects and other sectoral professionals with a view to increasing investment in, and commitment to the greening of public urban areas.

This will be achieved through the roll out of webinars, professional networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities, and third-level and sectoral engagement over three years.

The campaign is not aimed at the general public.
