Limerick City and County Councils have revealed the names chosen for their new machinery - and they didn't disappoint.

Following a public vote the hilarious names of their new road gritters and velocity patches have been decided.

Without further ado; the two gritters will now be referred to as "Aboy da skid" and "Treaty Gritty".

Meanwhile the city is honouring some of its famous sons in naming their three new patchers.

"Terry Wagon" gives a deserved nod to the iconic presenter from the Treaty City while "Angela's Patchers" pays tribute to the best selling book "Angela's Ashes" by Frank McCourt.

The last machine is called "Pacth-erine Zeta Jones".

The creativity minds behind those names are to receive a voucher for one of Limerick's great restaurants.
