2GoCup Launches Fundraising Campaign To Roll Out Major Deposit & Return Schemes In Ireland
2GoCup launched a 30 day Spark fundraising campaign to raise €300,000 working capital to complete major deposit & return schemes.
The Irish environmental startup enables businesses to move towards the circular economy by facilitating the roll out of affordable deposit & return schemes using their reusable coffee cups.
Quarter three & four of 2021 will be exhilarating for the sustainability startup.
Plans are in motion to roll out 2GoCup’s deposit & return scheme across stadia, national service stations, significant work campuses & universities.
CEO Kevin Murphy has already established deposit & return schemes across 50 Irish sites.
As well as independent cafes, he has achieved partnerships with Baxterstorey, Sodexo, Master Chefs & now The Compass Group — four of the biggest catering suppliers in the world.
Through Spark, the 25-year-old sustainability trailblazer launched a 30 day campaign to raise €300,000 working capital for the imminent phase of 2GoCup’s growth.
The exponential expansion of 2GoCup’s deposit & return schemes comes after the Irish government implemented the EU Directive banning certain single-use plastics.
With the latte levy proposed for 2022 & the EU Directive outlining that by 5 January 2023 producers of packaging, including cups, will be required to cover the costs of litter clean-up, 2GoCup is impeccably placed to have a huge positive environmental effect helping the nation transition to deposit & return schemes, eradicating wasteful single-use coffee cups.
Speaking about the Spark campaign, 2GoCup CEO Kevin Murphy enthused:
"We are delighted with how our active community members have embraced the circular economy & we look forward to our next chapter of growth.
The coming months will see the shift towards deposit & return schemes accelerate nationwide.
As we shift from a single-use society to a more environmentally minded reusable-focused one, 2GoCup will aid people in eradicating single-use cups.”
