Jodie Comer 'Shocked' By Backlash Over Her Boyfriend's Political Views

Killing Eve star Jodie Comer talked about cancel culture in her new interview with InStyle.

She faced major backlash online after it was alleged her boyfriend James Burke is a Trump supporter.

Fans online became frustrated over his alleged Republican affiliation.

Many accused him of being a Trump supporter.

As a result, Jodie faced major backlash online for dating him.

Reflecting on the incident, Jodie admitted she was, 'shocked,' by the whole thing.

She told InStyle, 'It was really shocking; it was the first time I had ever been dragged into something like that.'

'And it wasn't just me; it was my family.'

Jodie continued, 'I had seen the absurdity of what I was being accused of, and what my partner was being accused of.'

'I decided for my own health that I was not going to try and convince these people otherwise.'

'I just wasn't going to do it,' she added.

The whole thing did however, teach her a valuable lesson.

The 27-year-old shared, 'The biggest lesson for me this year was: I know who I am.'

The actress met the American Lacrosse player while she was filming Free Guy in the U.S.

Their relationship blossomed during lockdown.

She was in Liverpool while he was in the U.S., but they didn't let that stop them from pursuing a romance.

Jodie explained, 'I couldn't fly to the States. And I still can't.'

'It was one of those things.'

'I feel like, with anything, if you want something enough, you can make it work.'

'So, yeah, just millions of FaceTimes,' she shared.

Jodie had been in Ireland in October filming her upcoming movie The Last Duel.

She shared an emotional Instagram post paying tribute to the cast and crew when they wrapped up filming.
