The Irish rugby player appeared as a bombshell contestant on the dating show in 2019.

After a short period of time in the villa, he and Amber Gill managed to bag themselves the winning prize.

However, they called it quits shortly after returning home.

Greg faced major backlash at the time, following reports he broke it off over text.

The former Islander, his friends, and family, all received horrific messages as a result.

He recalled, "I was getting death threats sent to me, people step by step telling me how I should go... kill myself."

"And when I started blocking them and things like that, they started getting onto my family, messaging my mother horrific stuff, my sisters horrific stuff..."

"My mates were getting messages being like, 'You should shoot your friend in the back of the head.'"

No regrets

Despite the backlash, Greg doesn't regret going on the show.

But he admitted, "I probably was not ready for how nuts people can be and what people can generate just from typing on a keypad."

"[I had] young girls from Britain messaging me [telling me] to throw myself off balconies and things like that."

"Where are they even coming up with these things."

Greg remembered how trolls would tell his, "mom she's given birth to a little p***k."

Despite all this hate, there were plenty of good messages too, "it's a balancing act."

The former Islander got through it with the help of his close friends and family.

He added that he's also built a very thick skin from his experience with, "locker room banter," and, "slagging."

"Because I've had that... I'm kind of used to getting slagged to a certain extent."
