The Ellen Show under investigation

The Ellen Show is reportedly under investigation by Warner Media.

It follows countless reports of mistreatment in the workplace by former and current employees.

Variety's sources say Warner Bros. Television and Telepictures executives sent staff members memos last week.

In the notes, they said they've been consulting with Warner Media's employee relations group and a third party firm.

Both of which will be organising interviews with current and former staffers about their experiences on set.

The allegations

Allegations have been made against Ellen and other members of the show.

BuzzFeed News wrote an article featuring interviews with former employees about their experience.

One former staffer said Ellen's, ''be kind,' bulls**t only happens when the cameras are on.'

According to the publication, the majority of complaints were made against executive producers and senior managers.

However, one former employee pointed out that it's Ellen's name on the show.

For this reason, they feel, 'she really needs to take more responsibility.'

Meanwhile, a black woman told BuzzFeed News about the racism she experienced on set.

She alleged a senior-level producer told her and another black employee, 'you both have box braids; I hope we don’t get you confused.'

And at a work party, one of the main writers allegedly said, 'I only know the names of the white people who work here.'

A joint statement

Executive producers Ed Glavin, Mary Connelly and Andy Lassner released a joint statement to BuzzFeed News.

They said, 'Over the course of nearly two decades, 3,000 episodes, and employing over 1000 staff members, we have strived to create an open, safe, and inclusive work environment.'

'We are truly heartbroken and sorry to learn that even one person in our production family has had a negative experience.'

The statement continued, 'It’s not who we are and not who we strive to be, and not the mission Ellen has set for us.'

'For the record, the day to day responsibility of The Ellen show is completely on us.'

'We take all of this very seriously and we realize, as many in the world are learning, that we need to do better, are committed to do better, and we will do better,' they finished.

At the time of writing, a rep for The Ellen Show has not yet responded to Variety‘s report.
