Deyjah Harris opens up about her father's past comments
Deyjah Harris has opened up about her father's past controversial comments on her virginity.
She spoke about the issue on the latest episode of the family's VH1 reality TV show T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle.
Deyjah discussed the media coverage on her father's comments during a chat with her cousins on holidays in Mexico.
She told them, "I'm trying to push it to the back of my mind so I'm really not thinking about it."
Her cousins responded by telling her that bottling up her emotions is, "not healthy."
In confessional, Deyjah admitted, "Things are completely uncomfortable for me right now."
"We're all together in this house, so I have to see my dad and be around him."
"And we're in a foreign country, so it's not like I can leave and get away."
"My heart sank"
During the episode, Deyjah recalled the moment she found out about her father's comments.
She said, "I'm scrolling on Twitter, and I see that I've been tagged in a post."
"The only word that I saw was, 'gynecologist,' and I didn't even need to read the whole title 'cause I just knew."
"My heart sank - very shocked, hurt, angry, embarrassed."
The reality star admitted, "I do think my dad treats me differently than the boys when it comes to the subject of sex and supervision."
Deyjah revealed that T.I. jokes with her brother King, "about becoming a baby daddy."
"He would never joke like that with me," she added.
What T.I. said
T.I. came under fire last year for speaking about his daughter's virginity in an interview on the Ladies Like Us podcast.
During a chat about strict parenting, he revealed he goes to the gynecologist with her to, "check her hymen."
He said, "As of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact."
The rapper was asked if he's had the sex talk with Deyjah.
He replied, "Deyjah's 18, just graduated high school, now she's attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself."
"And, yes, not only have we had the conversation... We have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen."
At the time, Deyjah reacted by liking a series of tweets branding him, 'possessive,' 'controlling,' and, 'disgusting.'
