Limerick’s Fittest Youth Club Will Take Place On 27th October In Ballyhass Lakes
Limerick’s Fittest Youth Club will take place on the 27th of October in Ballyhass Lakes, Mallow.
This Southside initiative will be a pilot project with the aim to move forward into a citywide collaborative project with other youth organisations across limerick, and potentially, in time, regionally.
This year, four youth organisations are taking part – Southill Hub, West End Youth Project, Garryowen Community Development Project and Limerick Youth Service, with a total of 150 young people potentially participating.
The idea behind Limerick’s Fittest Youth Club came from, Team Lead in the Southill Hub, Suzi Cronin, watching Ireland’s Fittest Families, and her thoughts trailing to how this would be a fun and exhilarating task for young people who engage in Youth Clubs, and how this could be made possible.
Young people, from 10-18 years, will work together in a series of team challenges, put together by Ballyhass, to represent their Youth Clubs.
Each organisation will run trials for young people, and teams will be selected from the applicants.
Following this, there will be weekly training sessions each week in the lead-up to the event.
Young people will be faced with new and challenging experiences, facing fears, and pushing themselves weekly in new fitness challenges.
Each of the organisations involved will come together the Saturday before the main event, training together to boost morale between teams, and of course, scope out the competition.
This workout session will be run by Local business owner Eric Johnson of The Training Room in an outdoor setting.
