Traffic Restrictions in Dublin and Tipperary for Shane MacGowan's Funeral

Shane MacGowan's funeral will take place today.

A procession through Dublin will begin at 10.45 this morning, affecting traffic from South Lotts Road.

The cortege will then move across McMahon bridge onto Pearse St. to the junction with Lombard Street East, before turning onto Westland Row, Fenian St. and Denzille lane.

Gardaí are asking motorists to plan ahead.

The coffin will then head to Tipperary where there are also a umber of restrictions.

In Nenagh, Church Road to Market Cross will be closed from 8 this morning until 7 this evening.

There'll also be restrictions to traffic for Kenyon St., Pearse St. and Nenagh town centre from 2 this afternoon until 7 this evening.

A number of celebrities are expected to attend the service including Johnny Depp, Bono and Nick Cave.

The Pogue's frontman who is best known for Fairytale of New York passed away on Thursday last week.
