Sinéad O'Connor died yesterday aged 56.

She was found unresponsive at her home in London.

Police in the UK say her death is not being treated as suspicious, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

She has been described as a "force of nature" and an "immensely talented" singer-songwriter.

Sinéad has been described as the “voice of a generation” amid tributes from around the world.

Phil Coulter, who produced her 1994 album Universal Mother said she had a voice like no other.

"Her ability to breathe life into a song and a lyric was simply incredible."

Floral Tributes

Today flowers and candles are being placed outside Sinéad O'Connors's former home in Bray County Wicklow. Locals and neighbours have been reacting to her death…

"She was a pioneer," one woman told us.

"She held everyone to account," that same person continued.

“In January 1992 ‘Nothing Compares to you” made Sinéad O Connor a global superstar.

But despite her fame, she didn’t shy away from controversy.

In the same year she was thrust into the global spotlight, she ripped up a picture of the Pope on one of the Americas biggest TV shows Saturday Night Live.

A singer like no other, an activist, a mother, Sinéad O Connor left her mark. Nothing compared to her and nobody ever will.
