If you regularly pay a toll on the M50, M1 or M7 for example - take note.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland has confirmed that tolls on most motorways will increase from January.

The tolls will include eight of the State's eleven tolls on motorways, bridges and tunnels.

It's the first increase in the price of tolls for private cars in nine years.

Increases will also be seen for those operating other vehicle types.

The toll at Dunboyne on the M3 in Meath will be exempt from the toll charge increase.

The exemption extends to the Dublin Tunnel and electronic tags on the M50 at the toll between J7 Lucan and J6 Blanchardstown.

TII have said that inflation is the reason for the increase in prices.

Many tolls will see a ten-cent increase on the usual charge for using motorways.
