Survey Suggests 1 In 5 Young People Have Been Bullied Online

Nearly half of young people have reported witnessing bullying online, according to a new survey.

Figures from the iReach study also shows 20 percent of 16 to 18 year olds have been the target of cyber bullying themselves.

The study of 225 young people also shows more females (23%) than males (14%) have been directly affected by cyber bullying.

Communications officer with SpunOut.ie Claire O'Dowd believes the figures, while alarming, are not surprising:

Of the number who have been the target, 1 in 3 young people aged 18 have been the victim of online abuse.
