The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has ordered a restaurant to close after mice faeces were found in a room used to store burger buns.

Four closure orders were served in September on businesses in Dublin, Cork, and Tipperary.

Other reasons for closure orders include flies found in the premises, a poor standard of personal hygiene by a food handler, a dead insect found on food in a freezer, and food being prepared in an area where timber was being chopped with an axe.

Dr. Pamela Byrne, Chief Executive, FSAI, says all food businesses must take their legal responsibility seriously to ensure they protect the health of consumers by complying with food law
