Netflix is considering new methods to attract consumers, after losing subscribers for the first time in over a decade.

Around 200,000 people have left the platform in the first quarter of 2022, with the streaming giant's exit from Russia and price hikes believed to be among the reasons for the drop.

It's feared that 2 million users could switch off by July.

Ad Supported Service On The Cards

Netflix is now considering introducing lower-priced models, where subscribers will be faced with advertising.

Technology Correspondent Jess Kelly says there is a lot of competition in the market - which could also be a factor.

"For such a long time, it was just Netflix that was THE streaming service in Ireland, now we have Disney, Amazon Prime and Youtube Premium.

"When Netflix arrived, it was around €6 euro a month. Now if you want the Premium with multiple screens etc, you're looking at €21.

"That is a significant jump and all these services add up."
