There's a busy night ahead in the Premier League with six matches down for decision.

There are a few different talking points ahead of tonight's clashes, for many different reasons:

  • Manchester City continue to play catch-up with Liverpool
  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to break a record
  • An emotional night in store for Cardiff City

Newcastle v Manchester City - St. James' Park

Pep Guardiola's side head to St. James Park to take on relegation threatened Newcastle United, knowing a win would cut Liverpool's lead at the top of the table to a single point.

The Magpies currently lie fourth from bottom, just two points clear of the drop zone.

It's a tale of contrasting fortunes for these two teams - Newcastle are seeking back-to-back league wins for the first time since November, while City are attempting to win their fifth match in a row.

Kick off on Tyneside is at eight o'clock.

Manchester United v Burnley - Old Trafford

With the same kickoff time as their cross-city rivals, Manchester United welcome Burnley to the Theatre of Dreams, with their interim boss on the brink of creating Premier League history.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will become the first manager to win his first seven Premier League games, if the Red Devils finish on top.

For all the stat-lovers out there, United have the highest Premier League win-rate for Tuesday fixtures, with 62.5%, but Burnley manager Sean Dyche is undefeated in his five Premier League matches played on a Tuesday.

Arsenal v Cardiff City

It is set to be an emotional night at the Emirates Stadium.

Cardiff City visit Arsenal in their first game since the disappearance of their new signing Emiliano Sala.

There will be a minute of reflection before the game for the Argentine striker, after his plane got into difficulty near the Channel Islands last week.

Kick off in North London is at 19:45.

Fulham v Brighton - Craven Cottage

Even if Claudio Raineri's Fulham claim all three points tonight, it still won't be enough for them to climb out of the relegation zone, but at this stage of the season, every point counts.

They welcome 13th place Brighton to Craven Cottage from 19:45.

The Cottagers will be wihtout Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa due to an ankle issue, while Alfie Mawson is out for several weeks with a knee injury.

Huddersfield v Everton - John Smith's Stadium

Huddersfield are aiming for a winning start under new manager Jan Siewert, after he took over from David Wagner, while Everton are seeking to bounce back after their defeat to Southampton.

Siewert will be the third German to manage in the Premier League and could be the first to win his first match in the competition with Felix Magath and Jurgen Klopp both drawing in their opening games.

Sitting bottom of the league table, Huddersfield have their work cut out for them this evening, and with Everton unbeaten in their last 10 meetings with Huddersfield in all competitions, Siewert and his side might have a tough evening from 19:45.

Wolves v West Ham - Molineux Stadium

A win for West Ham tonight will see them leap frog Wolves into 7th place in the league table, but this Wolves side will be full of confidence following their incredible 4-3 win over Leicester City last week.

On the other hand, West Ham, who lie just one point behind their hosts, are aiming to respond after their 2-0 loss at Bournemouth.

Kick off is at 19:45, and like Manchester United's record on a Tuesday night, the Hammers are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League matches played on a Tuesday (W6 D2), since a 3-1 defeat at Arsenal in April 2014.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT'S MATCHES:

Bournemouth v Chelsea - Vitality Stadium

Southampton v Crystal Palace - St. Mary's Stadium

Liverpool v Leicester City - Anfield

Tottenham Hotspur v Watford - Wembley
