Met Eireann Issues Orange And Yellow Wind Warnings

A status orange wind warning has been issued for Cork and Kerry effective from 8 pm tonight.

Damaging gusts of up to 120 kilometres an hour can be expected in some areas.

Mathew Martin from Met Eireann says the worst of the winds will be felt in these two counties, as well as Clare.

But he says it should begin to ease tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, a yellow wind warning is in effect across the entire country until 7am tomorrow.

Gusts of up to 110 kilometres an hour are expected along with heavy rain.

Matthew Martin says the winds are caused by a change in pressure:

"We have an area of low pressure just to the west of Ireland that will track across to the north."

So batten down the hatches, we're in for a windy Wednesday.
