Man Arrested Over Ashling Murphy Killing Released: 'No Longer A Suspect'

Ashling Murphy attacked while out for a run on Wednesday

The man who had been arrested in connection to the killing of Ashling Murphy has been released.

Ashling (23) was attacked while out for a run along the canal in Tullamore on Wednesday afternoon.

A man was being questioned in relation to the attack.

However, he has now been released from custody and is no longer considered a suspect in the case.

Gardai released an update last night, saying:

"The male who was arrested and detained by An Garda Síochána investigating this fatal assault has now been released from this detention.

"This male has been eliminated from Garda enquiries and is no longer a suspect."

Gardaí investigating the assault are appealing for information about a mountain bike.

An image of the bike wanted in the relation to the Ashling Murphy case.

It's described as a Falcon Storm bike with straight handlebars and distinctive yellow/green front forks.
